Martin Luther King Jr. was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 15, 1929 when African Americans did not have the same rights as white Americans. When Martin was a little boy before he even started school, he had a friend who was white that he played with everyday. One day Martin went to his friend’s house to play like they did almost every day. However, this time when he got to his house, his friend’s mother did not invite him in like she always did. Instead, she told Martin that he and her son could not play together anymore. When Martin went home and told his mother what happened, she explained to him that he was black and his friend was white and now that the two boys were about to begin school that his friend’s mother did not want them to play together anymore. This made no sense to Martin and he never forgot the pain from that moment onwards.
