The Writing Process

"Process" refers to time/ sequence which occurs within the time

There are THREE steps which involve in the writing process

I) Pre-Writing
It is the biggest section of the writing process.
It involves with researching materials (gathering information)
After gathering the information, you must do " Brainstorm". You are now organzing/ putting the information into catergories. Sametime, you are deleting the unnecessary or irrelevent materials. This step seems like wasting of your time but actually you are planning your essay through this process.
*** Do not overlook this section. This section will prepare you to write a solid/concrete essay.

II) Writing
After you organize all your material, now you are ready to make 1st draft.
In this process, you are putting ideas and information into paragraphs.

III) Editing/ Revision
In this section, you are making the final draft.
One of the method you can edit your work is to READ IT TO YOURSELF. When you read silently, you can miss errors because you are reading what you want to you read. Also, since you've spend so many hours on your work and you cant find any errors; it sounds perfect.
Another advise is to re-read you essay after few days later. By dissociating from your work for few days allows your mind to be refresh; therefore, you can see the area which you can improve.

Another method to edit your essay is by peer-editing. Peer-editing is an excellent tool to edit yourwork. Since it is an object point of view, the peer can evalute you work from a different angle/perspective and they can point out the area which can be improve or it does not make sense.

*** If you know your writing skill is not strong, please visit TLC in the 4th floor. They do help with your writing materials. Personally, I use it all the time. However, you need to complete
" Peer Tutoring orientation" on line and bring the printed final form to B121. Then you will receive your tutoring sticker. Now you have acces to tutoring room @ 430A.
You must do the orientation on line to be eligibel for peer tutoring.
